My Lived Experiences

I started my working life in fashion. My first position was in a couture house producing the most beautiful clothing for royalty and high society. The quality of the fabrics and workmanship was exquisite. Seeing the Queen Mother in clothing I had worked on was a very special feeling.

I moved on from here into high end retail. I had a stint at modelling. But sales quickly became my forte. I developed a strong following of clients who would only shop with me. Some wouldn’t get dressed without my advice. Having clients of a certain calibre led to some interesting offers, but I wanted more.

I moved to New York, alone, and broke into the fashion scene there. I was styling and dressing some of New York’s top socialites. Being trusted to make such woman look and feel their very best is a huge responsibility and an honor which I took great pride and pleasure from. Exciting times.

Divorce put an end to this period of my life, and I returned to London to start again from scratch. Re-invention, I began working with a multi national retailer. As head of the sales team as well as the main recruiter and trainer of a mostly young foreign sales team, I found myself being a mentor and counsellor helping the team achieve not only their professional goals but also personal goals and aspirations.

After a short relocation to Paris, I suffered from corporate burn out and decided to take redundancy. This opened up another opportunity to reinvent myself from scratch.

I began an agency importing fashions from Paris and supplying major department stores. This grew very fast, too fast. I couldn’t keep up. I became a casualty of my own success. I was so overwhelmed I had to close down. With hindsight, this is where a coach would have been able to give me some clarity. But when you are so deeply involved, sometimes you just can’t see straight.

I took some time out to re-evaluate my life. As fashion retail was the only thing I knew (or so I thought), limiting beliefs crept in again. A coach could have helped me see I had other options. I opened a small boutique catering for special occasions. My clients were lovely, trusting me to make them look beautiful for their most important occasions. Helping people with their body
image and to really see themselves as beautiful is an incredibly powerful emotion. This work is really beautiful. The big downside of retail came with a recession and the challenges this brought with it.

Alongside the recession, I suffered a profound loss. I had to step away from business. I began volunteering for a small local bereavement charity. Mainly helping individuals with the practicalities of loss. Hearing the extremely sad and often uplifting beautiful life stories led me to decide I wanted a more holistic lifestyle for myself and my daughter.

I have been working with young children for the past 12 years. I use my nurturing and natural kindness to help them develop their social and practical skills. To see them grow in confidence and begin to overcome any issues is so satisfying and heartwarming that my days are the happiest I’ve ever experienced.

This is what led me to expand my practice so I can help as many people as I can to live the life they have always wanted.
